Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, a 30-year veteran of CBS News, has been named President of CBS News, taking on top editorial oversight for the news division across all platforms. She will be responsible for overseeing CBS News programs, bureaus, global newsgathering, streaming, digital editorial, standards and practices, special events, politics, elections and surveys, social, and the race and culture unit.[0] This promotion comes after Wendy McMahon was named President/CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.[1]

Ciprian-Matthews has held various leadership positions within CBS News throughout her career. She served as the Senior VP of News Administration and VP of News before becoming Executive VP for Newsgathering.[2] She also served as the CBS News Foreign Editor, Senior Broadcast Producer for the “CBS Evening News,” and Senior Producer for CBS News' foreign coverage.[0] She has been with CBS News since 1993.[0]

In her new role, Ciprian-Matthews will have oversight of CBS News Radio, in addition to her other responsibilities. This appointment highlights her extensive experience and expertise in the news industry.

Meanwhile, Neeraj Khemlani, the co-president of CBS News, is stepping down from his role.[3] His departure comes after a two-year tenure marked by clashes with high-profile anchors and HR complaints. Khemlani will be moving on to a new chapter with a multi-year, multi-platform first-look deal with CBS to develop content such as documentaries, scripted series, and books for Simon & Schuster.

Wendy McMahon, Khemlani's co-president, is expected to take on his responsibilities for running the News division.[1] This move follows a “360 performance review” focused on how Khemlani speaks to women and employees of color.[4]

Ciprian-Matthews is an award-winning journalist, having received an Emmy Award and an Alfred I. duPont Award for CBS News' coverage of the Newtown tragedy.[0] She was also honored with an Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence for CBS News in 2018.[0] In addition, she received the Presidential Award of Impact from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists in 2016.[0]

In other news, CBDW AI, a brand of 1606 Corp., has announced a strategic partnership with AR XTLabs, a backend development firm, to create an advanced AI Natural Language Processing (NLP) Chatbot specifically designed for the CBD industry.[5] CBDW AI aims to provide enterprise-level AI solutions tailored for the CBD sector, and this collaboration will help them achieve that goal.[6]

Overall, these developments in the media industry highlight the ongoing changes and advancements in news organizations and the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in various sectors. With the appointment of Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews as President of CBS News and the partnership between CBDW AI and AR XTLabs, we can expect to see further innovations and improvements in the way news is delivered and the use of AI in different industries.
